Mattresses should be placed on a firm base to prevent sagging. New mattresses should be rotated once a month for the first six months and then once every two to three months after that. Double sided mattress should be alternately flipped and rotated. Folding and bending of the mattress should be avoided if possible, as should heavy wear in one spot. Mattresses should not be soaked, otherwise mildew may develop inside the upholstery; instead, they should be cleaned with a vacuum or with mild surface cleanser and a slightly damp cloth.
